Sara Says:

"I believe what I teach allows people to find true body language that they can use in songs, how to find what's true and not what's just cliché and presentational."

Sara's students have appeared in such shows as:

Book Of Mormon, Wicked, Billy Elliot, Phantom Of The Opera, Les Miserables, The Producers, La Cage Aux Folles, Catch Me If You Can and on tv in SMASH.

Sara Says:

"The work is really about how to interpret a song truthfully—to do what actors do: tell the story in the clearest and most personal way."

Sara is a MAC and Bistro award-winning director.

She has directed or taught Gregg Edelman, Jason Graae, Andrew Lippa, Jason Robert Brown, Kate Weatherhead, Christianne Noll, Mark Waldrop and Stefani Germanotta (Lady Gaga) to name a few!

Sara Says:

"It's owning a song that allows auditors to get excited about you and know how they can cast you."

Put in your 'Two Cents' at PENNY'S Open Mic!

EVERY TUESDAY at 9pm in the EAST VILLAGE is "Penny's Open Mic!"

The doors open at 9pm and everyone puts their name in a bucket. At about 9:30, Penny pulls the names lottery style. The first 30 people get 7 minutes to perform whatever they want and then they hit the reserve list which are 4 minute slots.
Everyone who signs up gets up.
According to Penny Pollak's Website: "I created Penny’s Open Mic almost four years ago and without fail EVERY TUESDAY Penny’s Open Mic invites you and any artist to gather together in a theater every Tuesday to workshop, experiment and share their work 7 minutes at a time. The audience is here to listen and support. On this stage anything is welcome…except for heckling and glitter. The audience doesn’t take focus away from the person on stage and the person on stage does not heckle the audience. With the help of the many talented artists who grace this stage Penny's Open Mic has become an inspiring atmosphere where people feel free and safe to grow as artists and as people."
Under St. Marks Theater, (94 St. Marks Place, NYC) For $3 take advantage of their brand new sound system, a large stage for dancers and a screen for film-makers.
"The Under St. Marks scene inspires innovation while remaining abashed in the true east village spirit."
